About the role
The Substitute Teacher at Puebl School District 60 is responsible for supervising the classroom and teaching lessons left by absent teachers. They are responsible for the well-being and safety of students, taking attendance, maintaining a functioning classroom, utilizing classroom management skills, and teaching the provided curriculum.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the classroom and teach lessons left by absent teachers.
- Take attendance in accordance with school procedures.
- Prepare a written summary of work completed.
- Follow the teacher's written lesson plans.
- Consult with the Principal and/or staff to resolve questions or concerns.
- Comply with all building procedures and schedules.
- Promote the proper use and care of school property.
- Report special situations or problems to the absent teacher.
- Uphold board policies and follow administrative procedures.
- Implement effective pupil management procedures and classroom management techniques.
- Maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
- Take precautions to ensure staff/student safety.
- Do not leave students unsupervised.
- Attend to all non-teaching duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Valid Colorado Teaching License or eligibility for Colorado Teaching License OR Colorado Substitute Authorization.
- Minimum of a High School Diploma.
- Eligible for a 1-year substitute authorization.
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel to various district sites as required.
- Completed a fingerprint-based criminal background check and cleared by the Office of Human Resources.
- Uploaded a copy of current unofficial transcripts or high school diploma, three reference names and email addresses, and a copy of your teaching license or substitute authorization for the Colorado Department of Education.

- Ability to differentiate instruction for all levels and types of learners.
- Ability to work with a diverse, multicultural community.
- Small group reading instruction experience.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to use data to guide instruction.
- Ability to develop meaningful professional relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Experience implementing the RtI process.
