About the role

The primary responsibility of the Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, Mathematics (STREAM) Teacher is to plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in an elementary or secondary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and organize an instructional program aligned with Common Core standards.
  • Teach using various classroom techniques and methods appropriate to student abilities.
  • Use current and relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
  • Implement teaching strategies that emphasize student involvement and monitor student learning.
  • Prepare daily lesson plans and assign and check homework.
  • Communicate with parents and other staff members to provide feedback and documentation.
  • Maintain a respectful and positive working and learning environment.
  • Manage student behavior and enforce rules and procedures.
  • Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings.

Qualifications

  • Valid Colorado Teaching License within 60 days from date of hire.
  • Elementary Education Endorsement or pass a State Board of Education approved content exam.
  • Be eligible for a TiR or Alternative Licensing Program in content area.
  • Complete a fingerprint-based criminal background check.
  • Communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
  • Willingness to register for the READ Act training if hired in a K-3 or Reading Interventionist position.
  • Experience in a Title I or low-income setting preferred.
  • Previous experience as a certified teacher preferred.

  • Ability to scaffold and differentiate instruction.
  • Ability to integrate reading, writing, and math throughout the curriculum.
  • Computer expertise or willingness to learn.
  • Positive public relations skills, professionalism, strong work ethic, and ability to develop positive relationships with school and community.
  • Ability to interpret test information and data.
  • Strong commitment to system change and strong evidence of being a "team player."
  • Ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable.
