About the Role

Farmington Public Schools is seeking a full-time 6th Grade English/Language Arts Teacher for East Middle School for the 2026-2027 school year. This position is available immediately and will remain open until filled.

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive ELA instruction aligned with district curriculum and state standards for 6th grade students
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that foster reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills
• Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments, using data to inform instruction
• Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports diverse learners
• Collaborate with grade-level teams and building staff to support student achievement
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and classroom activities
• Participate in professional development and building-level committees as required

Requirements

• Valid Michigan teaching certificate with appropriate ELA endorsement (BX or BA)
• Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
• Successful completion of all required background checks and clearances

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of middle school literacy instruction and best practices
• Experience with differentiated instruction and intervention strategies
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Ability to integrate technology effectively into instruction
