Description JOB/POSITION SUMMARY: Perform the instructional and classroom management processes for teachers who are absent for a day or longer periods of time, in order to ensure students continuous learning, safety and well-being, and academic achievement. REPORTS TO: Building Principal/Executive Director of Human Resources Qualifications EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Must have a minimum of 60 college credit hours or complete the 20-hour training offered by Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE)Working on or conferred Bachelors Degree in education is preferredExperience working with youth is preferred Certificates/Licenses Missouri teaching certificate in any subject area or Missouri Substitute Certificate is required Terms of Employment JOB CLASSIFICATION: Certified SHIFT TYPE: Temporary SCHEDULE: Self Determined Schedule based on vacancies SALARY: $130/day vacancies (with substitute certification), $140/day certified vacancies (with teaching certification) BENEFITS ELIGIBILITY: No Essential Duties And Responsibilities INSTRUCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Provides classroom instruction to students as outlined in lesson plansCreates a safe and orderly environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of all studentsMaintains established routine of the school and classroom procedures in which assignedMaintains reasonable rules of conduct which encourage self-discipline and responsibilityMeets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and times designated and maintains appropriate record keeping of student performance Professional Responsibilities Remains at school the entire school day, unless otherwise instructed to leave by the building principalDemonstrates a sense of professional responsibility and maintains a professional appearance as an example to studentsMaintains confidentiality regarding staff/student informationSupervises students in all areas of the school grounds and off school grounds when involved in school activitiesTakes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilitiesReports incidents (e.g. fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment and adhering to education code and school policiesResponds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolutionCommunicates effectively and professionally with parents, staff, students, and community membersCompletes other duties as assigned by building or district administration Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required The requirements described below are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
