Qualified candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university and an appropriate State of Michigan teaching certificate with at least one of the following endorsements: Autism (SV), Cognitive Impairment (SA), Emotional Impairment (SE), or Learning Disability (SM).
Responsibilities
- Use creative instructional strategies along with best practices for classroom teaching to promote interactive learning and student engagement through technology, literature, and writing.
- Plan, organize, and provide instruction to students in both individual and small groups within a resource/inclusion room environment.
- Design and implement effective instruction.
- Maintain appropriate and accurate records.
- Adapt general education, special curriculum, support materials, and instruction strategies to meet individual student learning styles.
- Serve in a consultative capacity with individuals and groups, including teachers, parents, and students.
- Coordinate and attend MET and IEPT meetings for students assigned to your caseload.
Requirements
- Knowledge of disabilities and their educational implications.
- Working knowledge of special education state and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
- Demonstrate mental/physical ability and stamina for the requirements of the position.
- Adept with technology and ready to consider emergent techniques to enhance student achievement.
This position reports to the Building Principal & Special Education Director.
