26/27 Spanish Language & Culture Enrichment Facilitator, Sunnyside & Ft. Lewis Mesa Elementary Schoo
Part-time (0.40 FTE; 16 hours per week) position delivering Spanish supplemental enrichment instruction to students one day per week at Sunnyside Elementary School and one day per week at Fort Lewis Mesa Elementary School for the 2026/2027 school year. Includes part-time benefits. Starts as soon as possible. Employee workforce housing available in the 2026/2027 school year. One-time $720 bonus for newly hired staff (prorated for late start).
About the role
Plan instruction and assessment for supplemental enrichment lessons in Spanish language (speaking, listening, reading, writing) and culture. Assist the licensed teacher in supervising students during enrichment lessons and maintaining a positive learning environment. Adapt enrichment lessons to meet individual learning needs of all students. Maintain positive interpersonal relationships with students, parents, staff, and community members.
Responsibilities
- Utilize effective teaching strategies to teach supplemental enrichment lessons in Spanish language (speaking, listening, reading, writing) and culture.
- Work with the licensed teacher to modify and tailor enrichment lessons to address individual student differences, learning styles, and abilities.
- Implement supplemental enrichment lessons connecting Spanish language learning to associated cultures.
- Utilize identified computer-based language acquisition programs, set up student profiles, and maintain them within these programs.
- Maintain an orderly, positive learning environment free from disruptive behavior by implementing established classroom management strategies.
- Follow safety instructions for activities that may pose harm or injury to students, including use of personal protective devices.
- Model and promote character education, including citizenship, responsible behavior, bullying prevention, conflict resolution, and work ethics.
- Engage in professional learning and utilize feedback from observations to grow professionally.
- Familiarize and comply with all applicable Federal and Colorado laws, Board of Education policies, and District regulations.
- Assure the safety and welfare of students, ensuring constant supervision.
- Demonstrate faithfulness and promptness in attendance; submit required reports on time.
- Demonstrate care and protection of School District property.
- Report suspected child abuse or neglect as required by law.
- Use the District's internet and email system as specified in policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal, Superintendent, or their designees.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (minimum).
- Colorado Substitute Authorization from the Colorado Department of Education (minimum requirement).
- Ability to demonstrate proficiency in Spanish language (speaking, listening, reading, and writing).
- Advanced ability to connect language learning with cultural learning.
- Experience working with youth and facilitating lessons is preferred but not required.
