About the role

The Lower Elementary School K5 Teacher will play a crucial role in empowering students to discover their potential and pursue excellence academically, personally, and spiritually. This position requires an exceptional collaborator and team player with a deep understanding of all content areas and the ability to connect with and inspire students.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality instruction in reading, writing, math, and other subjects as assigned.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students, including small-group and individual support.
• Monitor, assess, and document student progress; use assessment data to inform instruction.
• Seek out opportunities to integrate Biblical truth with lessons.
• Integrate character education and/or faith-based values into daily lessons.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and nurturing classroom environment.
• Manage classroom behavior in a consistent and effective manner, promoting courage, respect, integrity, and perseverance through the development and maintenance of positive relationships with students.
• Serve as the cultural and spiritual model for students, always interacting respectfully and striving to demonstrate God’s love to students and families.
• Effectively communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress, behavior, and needs.
• Monitor and support students during morning arrival, lunch, recess, and dismissal.
• Serve with a flexible, open heart that recognizes no duty is outside the scope of your role, we are a team that is stronger together in service of our students.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree, including any other requirements for accreditation, with a Master’s degree a plus.
• State teaching license preferred but not required.
• A strong understanding of early childhood and elementary instructional practices.
• Ability to plan lessons aligned to state standards and school expectations.
• Strong classroom management skills rooted in positive, age-appropriate discipline.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• Active participation in a Christian church.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Skilled in planning and preparation, and organization development; able to balance a focus on big picture priorities while not losing sight of the school goals and objectives.
• Committed to continuous growth and professional learning.
• Team player committed to the St. Augustine Preparatory mission and model.
