26/27 School Year: Special Education Assistant

About the Role

Attends to the personal needs of disabled students, providing support under the supervision of the classroom teacher.

Responsibilities

• Helps students with walking, boarding buses, putting on prosthetic appliances, eating, dressing, and other physical activities as needed.
• Assists with student management and provides clerical support to teachers.
• Sets up and operates learning and development equipment and materials.
• Tutors students as required.
• Follows safety rules and proper procedures associated with the responsibilities of the job.
• Maintains strict confidentiality regarding student records and information in the school setting.
• Participates in Restraint/De-escalation training provided by the district.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Sufficient experience to provide service in the specific role with appropriate training.
• Ability to work under the supervision of the classroom teacher.
