About the Role
Ensure the smooth operation of the school nutrition program, the production of high-quality nutritious meals, and maintain a fiscally stable cafeteria program.
Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operation of the cafeteria in an efficient and productive manner.
- Train all new employees in assigned jobs.
- Complete accurate and timely reports/documents, including but not limited to:
- Daily production records
- Monthly inventory and usage of USDA commodities
- Eligible students for free/reduced meals program
- HACCP records and temperature logs
- Cashier reconciliation and menus
- On-the-job injuries and daily time sheets
- Work schedules for school nutrition staff
- Equipment inventory
- Evaluate school nutrition staff.
- Complete daily participation and financial reports; reconcile financial transactions.
- Purchase food and non-food items as specified in the procurement plan.
- Maintain sanitation standards as specified by the Department of Health.
- Abide by all federal, state, and County Board of Education policies regarding meal requirements and other aspects of the School Nutrition Program.
- Attend manager meetings and training sessions for school nutrition employees.
- Perform related duties as assigned by the School Nutrition Supervisor.
Purchasing, Receiving, and Storage
- Order all food and supplies as scheduled through the Central Office.
- Ensure all received food and supplies are checked against invoices for accuracy and signed only after verification.
- Ensure proper food safety and handling procedures for receiving and storing all food and supplies.
Sanitation, Safety, and Security
- Implement and adhere to USDA HACCP principles.
- Maintain daily temperature logs for freezers and coolers.
- Organize and maintain a safe, healthy, and clean operation by specifying duties and providing written cleaning schedules.
- Ensure staff adhere to the dress code and are free of illness while on duty.
- Maintain state and local health regulations and codes of sanitation.
- Ensure all employees follow safety practices and report accidents using proper procedures.
- Check that all cafeteria equipment is in safe, working condition and notify authorities for repairs or replacements as needed.
- Assume responsibility for the security of all food, supplies, equipment, and cash until turned over to proper authorities.
