About the role
This position plans, develops, and provides computerized routing of buses to ensure safe, effective, and efficient student transportation.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain safe, reliable, and efficient bus routes for all eligible students.
- Assure that drivers, aides, and dispatch have the latest copies of routes as there are weekly changes, directions, times, new students, removals, etc.
- Assign buses, safe bus stops, and bus routes for student transportation according to accommodations.
- Maintain and inventory equipment including: safety vests, car seats, and WC equipment.
- Review, process, and file transportation requests.
- Interact with the public on transportation issues.
- Track transportation benchmarks.
- Evaluate and make recommendations for systems for bus routing and student systems.
- Maintain systems and database integration across the district.
- Communicate clearly and concisely with faculty, staff, municipalities, administration, and community.
- Cookordinate and maintain Out of District school’s routes, assignments, and calendars.
- Collect and assimilate data for monthly reports.
- Keep track of student numbers and avoid overloads on RED or wrong accommodations on Special Ed.
- Maintain routes, maps, boundaries, and the student database.
- Remain current in existing and emerging technology and software.
- Works with Dispatcher to coordinate work assignments for substitute drivers and bus aides.
- Maintains daily communication with bus drivers and other departments.
- Drives a school bus in an emergency situation.
- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
- Establish and maintain good rapport with employees, students, and community.
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Experience with Versatrans bus routing software or other bus routing computer applications preferred.
- Willingness and ability to acquire new and advanced skills necessary for implementing advances in information/computer technology.
Qualifications
- Obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR card.
- Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Class B License with passenger (P) and school bus (S) endorsements.
- Obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate.
- Obtain and Maintain DPS School Bus Driver Certificate.
- Successfully pass the DPS Physical Performance Test.
- Submit to Annual and Random, Drug and Alcohol Testing.
- Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC).
