26-27 Roosevelt- Fith Grade Classroom Teacher
About the role
This position involves teaching students in an appropriate subject area at the appropriate grade level, adhering to the curriculum and district objectives. The successful candidate must have a current Oklahoma Teaching Certificate with the necessary endorsements.
Responsibilities
- Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
- Understand and apply principles of child development.
- Facilitate learning through various strategies and provide opportunities for all students.
- Define and evaluate students' academic growth using standardized tests and teacher-designed assessments.
- Evaluate students' academic growth fairly and impartially.
- Administer group-standardized tests in accordance with the district testing program.
- Keep appropriate and accurate records and prepare reports relating to students' progress.
- Identify students' needs and cooperate with other professional staff members to help solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Organize classroom routines to minimize disciplinary problems and establish standards of student behavior.
- Maintain building, equipment, and supplies in the best possible condition and promote a positive learning environment.
- Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students' progress and interpret the school program.
- Assist special education students with academic, social, and personal needs as outlined in their Individual Education Plans.
- Perform teaching and reporting requirements identified as part of state and federally funded programs.
- Utilize discretion, ingenuity, and independent judgment to solve problems and manage the computerization of school district operations.
Requirements
Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field from a college/university recognized by the State Board of Education. No prior experience is required for this position.
Qualifications
Must possess a current Oklahoma Teaching Certificate with the appropriate endorsements for the subject and grade level.
Skills
Successful performance requires good customer service/people skills, handling problems, providing information and technical assistance as requested, complying with safety guidelines and policies, following school dress standards, and maintaining proper attendance or leave policies.
