About the role
Location: Pinecrest Elementary School - LEAP Program (Setting 3 Center-based Classroom). Hours: 6.25 hours/day (plus 30 minute unpaid lunch) for the 2026-2027 school year (anticipated to be 5.75 hours/day beginning 2027-2028). Start and end times vary based on location and student need; student contact days only.
Responsibilities
- Assist the licensed teacher in providing instructional reinforcement, accommodations and managing student educational progress in the classroom
- Assist with data collection and behavior management techniques to ensure student success
- Support student learning with academics, social/emotional needs, and interpersonal skills
- Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including toileting, feeding, dressing, as needed
- Help implement district policies and procedures (emergency procedures, data collection, positive behavior supports, non-violent crisis intervention)
- Reinforce instruction through small group or individual activities
- Be flexible with schedule changes, student assignments, and behavior regulation
- Supervise and assist students during lunch, arrival/departure from school, and other daily needs
- Maintain a high level of respect, equity for all, and confidentiality of information regarding students, staff, and families
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Must meet one of the following:
- At least two years of qualifying college credits (usually 60 credits in Minnesota) through an accredited institution of higher education, or
- An associate’s or higher degree with qualifying course work, or
- A passing score on a valid and reliable formal assessment
- Proficient in oral and written communication skills
- Ability to follow program direction as provided by teachers and administrators
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and support students with activities of daily living
- Proficient in organizational skills
- Ability to be punctual in reporting to work and for assigned duties during the day
Pay
Starting pay: $22.51 per hour.
