About the role
At Caliber ChangeMakers Academy, we are seeking a Paraprofessional to support students with special needs. Key responsibilities include implementing behavior intervention plans, communicating with various support teams, and assisting in classroom activities.
Essential Job Functions
- Implement training on de-escalation techniques and behavior intervention
- Follow and implement behavior support plans
- Communicate with Adaptive PE, social worker, parents, technicians, therapists, and other relevant parties
- Maintain a daily activity log and collect student work samples
- Attend parent/teacher conferences and IEP meetings
- Assist classroom teachers in instructing students with disabilities
- Provide reinforcement and assist with independent study, enrichment, and remedial work
- Support testing and special education computer programs
- Aid in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with students, families, and colleagues
- Participate in professional development and provide coaching feedback
Working Conditions
- Environment: School/classroom setting
- Physical Abilities: Sitting, walking, standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, reaching, bending, and using visual acuity
Qualifications
- Required Education: HS Diploma + 2 years of college OR AA degree (or higher) OR passed CBEST
- Other Qualifications: Authorization to work in the U.S., TB clearance, and CA DOJ/FBI fingerprint clearance
- Preferred Experience: Three years of recent experience in a special education setting, familiarity with BIPoC populations, good relationship building skills, and organized multitasking abilities
