26/27 Middle School Head Girls Basketball Coach (Paseo Academy)

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Conduct practices emphasizing teamwork, skill development, rule learning, and student-athlete improvement.
• Engage in academic monitoring with teachers, counselors, and other academic support staff.
• Ensure student-athletes attend required study hall.
• Supervise student-athletes before, during, and after practices and contests, including in locker rooms, on buses, and at all other times.
• Assume responsibility for constant care of equipment and inventory being used.
• Inspect all athletic equipment and facilities, submit documentation to Athletic Director/Principal, and follow through on required paperwork.
• Work with the Principal to provide a solid program and continue professional growth through clinics and publications.
• Supervise an effective assistant coach and have full responsibility for all aspects of the program.
• Promote student athletes’ accomplishments academically and athletically.

Minimum Qualifications

• A four-year college degree and contract with the KCMSD Board of Education for the school year as a full or part-time teacher or 1-3 years of coaching experience.
• Knowledge of the particular sport (philosophy & coaching).
• Completion of the MSHSAA/NFHS Coaching Principles Course and Sports First Aid Courses.
• A strong commitment to the student-athlete concept and working knowledge of all collegiate eligibility center regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Employed as a teacher or administrator in the school in which the candidate applies for a coaching position.
