About the role

St. Catherine's School is an Episcopal day school in Richmond, Virginia, founded in 1890. It enrolls approximately 950 girls aged 3 through grade 12. Responsibilities

• Develop and teach curriculum (language arts, mathematics, social studies and character education) based on current national standards in elementary education and research on developmental skills.
• Provide individualized and small group instruction using various strategies like inquiry, group discussion, and discovery to meet the needs of each student.
• Document children's social-emotional and academic progress through anecdotal notes, work samples, digital portfolio creation, and report cards.
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with families through conferences, narrative report card comments, emails, and phone calls.
• Identify student needs and collaborate with other faculty/staff members/support personnel to assess and support students with health, attitude, and learning needs.
• Contribute positively to the School's culture and community by adhering to professional standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited university, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience teaching elementary education is preferred but not required.
• Show adaptability to new and evolving technology and demonstrate innovation and vision related to efficient information processing.
• Show proficiency with oral and written communication.

Qualifications

• Ability to become CPR and First Aid Certified.
