About the role
The Chappaqua Central School District is seeking an English Teacher to join our middle school faculty starting September 2, 2026. The ideal candidate will have strong, broad knowledge of American literature, promote a safe and supportive learning environment, and be skilled in fostering emotional well-being and a sense of belonging.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality instruction in English language arts, focusing on American texts.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to individualized and small group instruction.
- Evaluate own performance and seek professional learning opportunities.
- Collaborate with colleagues in a co-teaching and interdisciplinary planning model.
- Implement evidence-based social-emotional learning strategies to enhance emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills.

Requirements
- New York State Certification as an English Education Teacher Grades 7 - 12 or English 5-9.
- Experience with formative assessments and evidence-based social-emotional learning strategies.
- Knowledge of the RULER approach to emotional intelligence.
- Ability to integrate diverse perspectives and voices into instructional materials.
- Commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of American literature, both classic and contemporary.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation and professional growth.
