The Springfield Public Schools seeks a dedicated educator to join our team. This position involves meeting and instructing assigned classes, planning a program of study, creating a conducive learning environment, guiding the learning process towards achieving district curriculum goals, assessing student accomplishments, and contributing to the professional growth of the district.
Responsibilities
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in designated locations and times.
- Plans a program of study that meets individual student needs, interests, and abilities.
- Creates a classroom environment that supports learning and aligns with students' maturity and interests.
- Guides the learning process towards achieving established district curriculum goals.
- Employs various instructional techniques and media, consistent with physical constraints and student capabilities.
- Strives to implement the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals.
- Affords regular assessments of student achievements and communicates progress through progress reports.
- Maintains accurate records and maintains an ongoing program of professional growth.
- Participates in the contractually approved teacher evaluation process and contributes to mutual agreements.
- Attends building and district meetings to promote communication and mutual decision-making.
- Contributes to decisions regarding budget, facilities, curriculum, and personal well-being.
- Maintains an active role in professional development.
Requirements
- Highly qualified with required competency in the content area.
- Appropriate content/program area educator license (English) and grade level (5-8) licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
- Bachelor’s Degree with appropriate license; or Master’s Degree with appropriate content area license preferred and/or expected within 5 years.
