About the role

The VCP High School seeks a dedicated and passionate High School English teacher to join its collaborative and supportive team. The ideal candidate will embody the school's mission and vision, aligning with its commitment to student-centered education and rigorous academic standards.

Responsibilities

  • Use state standards and curriculum to develop rigorous, objective-driven lessons aligned with school-provided curriculum maps.
  • Collaborate with associate/co-teacher to maintain a collaborative co-teaching environment.
  • Differentiate lessons for individual students based on their unique learning needs.
  • Implement classroom procedures, systems, and routines that provide structure for students and maximize instructional time.
  • Regularly assess and track student performance towards ambitious academic outcomes goals using data.
  • Communicate frequently and effectively with student families, promptly returning phone calls and answering emails.
  • Use restorative practices to build a positive classroom culture.
  • Work with the Behavior Support team to address student emotional and mental well-being and needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in English or a related field.
  • Teaching License (or ability to obtain teaching license) in English or a related subject area.
  • Experience with the No-Nonsense Nurturer and/or 4-Step Model for student behavior management is helpful but not required.
  • Ability and willingness to work collaboratively, maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships.
  • Eagerness and ability to receive and implement feedback from manager, coach, and/or peers.
  • Able to build meaningful, positive relationships with all students.
  • Punctuality and strong attendance record.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of No-Nonsense Nurturer and/or 4-Step Model for student behavior management.
  • Proactive relationship-building with students.
  • Willingness to receive and implement feedback.

Pay

$52,500 starting salary with an average 2% pay raise or more per year.
