About the Role

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

Responsibilities

• Instructional Strategies: Develop and implement lesson plans that meet district curriculum requirements, incorporate accommodations for individual student differences, and use appropriate instructional strategies, materials, equipment, and technology. Conduct assessments of student learning styles and collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula per IEPs. Coordinate instructional goals with staff and oversee work assigned to instructional aides and volunteers.
• Student Growth and Development: Conduct ongoing formal and informal assessments of student achievement. Assume responsibility for assigned extracurricular activities and sponsor outside activities approved by the principal. Serve as a positive role model and support the school district’s mission.
• Classroom Management and Organization: Create a conducive learning environment, manage student behavior according to the Student Code of Conduct, protect students and school property, assist in selecting instructional materials, and maintain required reports and records.
• Communication: Establish and maintain professional relationships and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
• Professional Growth and Development: Participate in staff development activities, comply with state, district, and school regulations, attend faculty meetings, and serve on staff committees as required.
• Other Duties: Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures; perform other duties as assigned.
• Supervisory Responsibilities: Direct the work of assigned instructional aide(s).

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or a Statement of Eligibility (SOE) from an Alternative Certification Program (ACP).
• Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience.

• Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.
• Knowledge of the core academic subject, curriculum, and instruction.
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Tools/Equipment: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment.
• Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
• Motion: Frequent walking.
• Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift textbooks and classroom equipment.
• Environment: Work primarily indoors, may work outdoors; regular exposure to noise.
• Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours.

Pay

Teachers with “0” years of experience begin at $63,000 annually.
