About the role

This position serves as a Dimensions Teacher at Norman Public Schools, responsible for delivering online instruction to students in grades 6-8. The successful candidate will possess a current Oklahoma Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsements and/or additional certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement online learning experiences that align with district and site objectives.
  • Facilitate online learning environments that engage all students and accommodate diverse learning needs.
  • Evaluate student progress using both standardized tests and teacher-designed assessments.
  • Create and administer group-standardized tests as per the district's testing program.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on student progress.
  • Collaborate with other educators to address students' health, attitude, and learning issues.
  • Adapt lessons and assignments to meet the needs of all students.
  • Work cooperatively with administrators, colleagues, students, and parents.
  • Assist special education students as outlined in their Individual Education Plans.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and students regarding their children's progress.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field from a college/university recognized by the State Board of Education.
  • Experience in online instruction is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of child development principles and strategies for facilitating online learning.
  • Ability to maintain professional competence through ongoing in-service education and self-selected professional growth activities.
  • Compliance with district policies and procedures, including safety guidelines and dress standards.

Qualifications

  • Current Oklahoma Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsements and/or additional certifications.
  • Multiple certifications in the subject area are preferred.

Skills

  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency in using the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Knowledge of multicultural issues and the ability to create inclusive learning environments.
