About the role
This position serves as a counselor within the School Leadership and Operations division, focusing on academic and social issues, and assisting in planning academic and career choices for students.
Responsibilities
- Implement or assist in implementing a developmental counseling and guidance program based on school needs.
- Conduct individual counseling sessions addressing educational and personal needs, referred by staff, families, or self-referrals.
- Facilitate group counseling sessions in designated areas.
- Organize and conduct classroom activities to support instructional goals, educational transitions, career awareness, and personal development.
- Prepare and distribute notices to parents regarding students at risk of non-promotion and those lacking graduation credits.
- Supervise student registration processes as directed.
- Collaborate with Graduation Coaches, Career Pathways Facilitators, and others to ensure successful implementation of the Career Pathways initiative.
- Assist in school-based scheduling for work-based learning students, as necessary.
- Participate in the administration of standardized group tests and analyze test data.
- Provide information to students and parents about career pathways and life development.
- Consult and coordinate with staff, parents, and community resources.
- Engage in the Student Support Team and contribute to the planning and operation of the school.
- Serve as a supervisor during student elections.
Requirements
- A Master’s or higher degree in School Counseling.
- An S-5 or above certificate from the Professional Standards Commission.
- Possess and maintain a valid and appropriate license, certificate, or credential as required for this position.
- Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable, and punctual manner.
- Participate in training programs to enhance skills and proficiency related to the assignment.
- Stay updated with current developments, literature, and technical sources relevant to job responsibilities.
- Adhere to safety procedures, crisis emergency plans, and maintain a secure and healthy learning environment.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and other stakeholders to support student learning.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess and maintain a valid and appropriate license, certificate, or credential as required for this position. They must also follow work scheduling and attendance requirements, participate in training programs, stay updated with relevant literature and sources, adhere to safety procedures, and communicate effectively with students, parents, and other stakeholders.
