Essential Job Functions

  • Aid in identifying and referring speech language-impaired children.
  • Conduct speech-language assessments.
  • Participate in comprehensive staffing.
  • Carefully coordinate information between the department and other service providers.
  • Provide liaison services to receiving school districts or treatment facilities.
  • Prepare comprehensive speech-language reports and make intervention recommendations.
  • Attend categorical eligibility meetings and present evaluation results.
  • Consult and instruct school personnel and parents on the therapeutic management of students.
  • Collaborate with physicians, hospitals, and other medical personnel regarding the needs of speech-language-impaired children.
  • Maintain confidential records and document progress.
  • Write and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Utilize administrative computer systems to train and support district staff.

Physical Demands

  • Sit, use hands to handle or feel, and talk or hear.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Regularly use close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
