Appointments are contingent upon budget, enrollment considerations, and subject to order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement. Temporary faculty must demonstrate eligibility to work in the U.S.; the university does not sponsor work visas for temporary faculty.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to and implement university and system-wide policies as directed per Academic Policy Manual 306, paragraph 2.
• Prepare, deliver, conduct, proctor, and grade lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm/final exams.
• Ensure all classes meet as scheduled throughout the semester in the assigned mode (asynchronous, synchronous, in-person, or hybrid).

Requirements

• A Master's degree in agricultural education, agricultural communications, agriculture leadership, or a closely related field from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent.
• Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Experience in agriculture, agricultural education, communications, leadership, or closely related fields.

Preferred Qualifications

• Commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, evidenced by prior teaching experiences, evaluations, or other documentation.
• Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
• Demonstrated ability to engage with students beyond the classroom.
• An M.S./M.A. in a related field, professional certification, and/or industry experience.

Pay

The salary range for Temporary Faculty with a Master's degree is $5,507–$6,677 per month when teaching full time (15 WTUs). Starting salaries are typically at or near the minimum of the range. Actual monthly salary is adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per academic term.

Schedule

The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, with positions filled as needed based on student enrollment and funding. Appointments are temporary, part-time, and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The pool remains active for two academic terms; reapplication is required to remain in the pool beyond that period.
