Salary Grade: $4500/season | Department: Athletics | Reports To: Athletic Director/Building Principal

About the Role

Provide leadership for the school's athletic program through the continuous development, implementation, and enhancement of the sport(s) assigned, while promoting student-athlete growth, program excellence, and alignment with district goals and expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with practices by placing emphasis on the importance of teamwork, skill development, learning rules and strategies, and student-athlete improvement.
  • Engage in academic monitoring with teachers, counselors, and other academic support staff.
  • Supervise student-athletes before, during, and after practices and contests, including in locker rooms, on buses, and at all other times.
  • Attend all practices and games on time and remain until all student-athletes have left.
  • Assume responsibility for constant care of equipment and inventory.
  • Complete required paperwork including rosters, physicals, insurance forms, and parent consent forms.
  • Provide information for transportation, facilities, officials, and game management.
  • Conduct team and self in an ethical manner during practices and contests, exemplifying the highest standards of sportsmanship.
  • Assist in the coordination of the program and promote student-athletes' accomplishments academically and athletically.
  • Pursue professional growth through clinics and professional publications.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Student-athletes

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the particular sport (philosophy and coaching).
  • Successfully complete the MSHSAA/NFHS Coaching Principles Course and Sports First Aid Courses.
  • A strong commitment to the student-athlete concept and working knowledge of all collegiate eligibility center regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Be a full or part-time employee in the District.
  • Employed in the school as a teacher or administrator where the candidate applies for the position.
