26/27- Anticipated Bilingual Elementary Teacher

Anticipated position for the 2026–2027 school year. Exempt, professional role reporting to the campus principal.

Primary Purpose

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the assigned core academic subject area to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or Statement of Eligibility (SOE) from an Alternative Certification Program (ACP).
• Demonstrated competency in the assigned core academic subject area.
• Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience.

• Knowledge of the assigned core academic subject.

• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Instructional Strategies

• Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements and show written evidence of preparation.
• Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student differences.
• Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect understanding of student learning styles and needs.
• Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
• Conduct assessments of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
• Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students accordingli>
• Work with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
• Plan and assign work to instructional aides and volunteers and oversee completion.

Student Growth and Development

• Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
• Assume responsibility for assigned extracurricular activities.
• Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
• Serve as a positive role model for students; support the mission of the school district.

Classroom Management and Organization

• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for students’ physical, social, and emotional development.
• Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
• Compile, maintain, and file all required reports, records, and documents.

Communication

• Establish and maintain professional relationships and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.

Professional Growth and Development

• Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
• Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
• Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

Other

• Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Direct the work of assigned instructional aide(s).

• Maintain emotional control under stress.
• Work prolonged or irregular hours.

Physical Demands

• Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
• Frequent walking.
• Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment.

• Regular exposure to noise.

• Personal computer and peripherals.

Pay

• Starting salary for teachers with 0 years’ experience: $63,000.
• $4,000 bilingual stipend for certified bilingual teachers.
