Position Overview

The Lower School Afterschool Program runs daily and is for Lower School students in Junior Kindergarten through Grade 4. Afterschool instructors must be able to create enrichment classes for the different age groups from 3:30-4:30 p.m. and then supervise students who stay till 6 p.m. including help with homework.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Essential Responsibilities

  • Help to execute creative, age-appropriate enrichment activities for students in JK-grade 4
  • Assist the Lead Instructor to supervise and ensure the safety of students at all times
  • Provide homework assistance and academic support
  • Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a cohesive and effective program
  • Maintain a positive and disciplined classroom environment, following school protocols
  • Build positive relationships with parents/guardians

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle and feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl
  • Talk and hear; engage in moderately strenuous physical activity both indoors and out
  • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to become CPR and First Aid Certified

Travel

Travel is not a requirement for this role.
