About the role
The Signal Support Systems Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring Army National Guard units remain connected and informed. This position involves integrating signal systems and networks, performing various signal support functions, and maintaining and operating radio and data distribution systems.
Responsibilities
- Maintain radio and data distribution systems
- Perform signal support functions and technical assistance for computer systems
- Provide technical assistance and training for local area networks
- Maintain and install signal support systems and terminal devices
- Prepare maintenance and supply requests for unit-level signal support
- Operate and perform preventative maintenance checks and services on assigned vehicles
- Maintain and install equipment, terminal devices, assigned vehicles, and power generators
Requirements
- Advanced mechanical and electrical principles
- Preventive maintenance procedures
- Line installation and wiring techniques
- Communication security policies and procedures
Qualifications
- Interest in working with electronic equipment
- Interest in problem-solving
Skills
- Develops skills and experience for a civilian career in communications and electronic equipment manufacturing
- Through training, learns advanced individual training (AIT) including hands-on and classroom instruction

Additional Information
- Non-prior service candidates may earn between $200 and $250 per drill weekend, subject to change
- Must be between the ages of 17 and 35
- Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards

- Requires military enlistment in the Army National Guard
