256721 (LF) - Specialist Clinical Pharmacist

NHS Lothian serves a population of approximately 1 million people, employs 35,000 people, and is focused on improving the health and wellbeing of the population. The NHS Lothian Primary Care Pharmacy and Medicines Service is undergoing an ambitious programme of transformation and integration. Pharmaceutical care is provided by a team of around 100 pharmacy staff, working across General Practices covering the whole of Edinburgh. Partnership working is at the core of our values, and we work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, including Community Pharmacy colleagues, to deliver the highest quality care for everyone in Lothian.

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated, and enthusiastic GPhC registered pharmacist to join our team. You may have a community or hospital pharmacy background or already be working within a GP Practice as a pharmacist. This role offers the opportunity to be at the forefront of transforming the delivery of pharmaceutical care in an environment that values staff and supports their learning, growth, and wellbeing. You will work with a dynamic team aiming to be “the best Pharmacy service in Scotland.”

Responsibilities

• Provide holistic, patient-centred individualised care to improve the safety and effectiveness of individuals’ medicines.
• Work autonomously as well as part of a team across a range of medical practices within a specific geographical area of Edinburgh.
• Engage in joint projects and initiatives within the Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) in line with local and national priorities.
• Contribute to the development and education of others.
• Demonstrate leadership and innovation consistent with NHS Lothian’s values.

Requirements

• GPhC registered pharmacist with postgraduate experience in a patient-focused clinical environment.
• Progressed through the post-registration foundation training (PRFT) to the stage of being signed off as ready to prescribe. For candidates who have not enrolled in PRFT or equivalent, you must demonstrate competence across the four pillars of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Foundation Curriculum through:
  • Engagement with the RPS Core Advanced Curriculum.
  • Active participation in a community of practice/peer network.
  • Evidence of learning needs analysis using the RPS tool to assess progress and identify gaps, supported by a personal development plan.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience in developing and educating others.
• PVG Scheme membership/record for the required regulatory group (child and/or adult) is mandatory before beginning the post.
