255393 R1 (SM) Facilities Maintenance (CAFM) Manager
About the role
The Facilities Maintenance Manager is critical in ensuring NHS Lothian Hard Facilities Management (Estates) department delivers our statutory, mandatory and operational obligations through the effective implementation of the 'Maintenance Plan'. The role shall deliver the comprehensive planned/reactive maintenance strategy through the strategic management of NHS Lothian in-house Computer Aided Facilities Management system (MiCAD).
Responsibilities
- Deliver the comprehensive planned/reactive maintenance strategy through the strategic management of NHS Lothian in-house Computer Aided Facilities Management system (MiCAD)
- Line manage and develop the Hard Facilities Management (Estates) Helpdesk (people and systems)
- Manage and develop the fixed asset database
- Service reporting and deficiency planning
- External engagement and management of suppliers delivering maintenance activities to NHS Lothian buildings
Requirements
- Experience in managing facilities and estates within a healthcare environment
- Proven ability to manage and develop teams
- Knowledge of Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) systems
- Ability to manage and engage with external suppliers
- Experience in reactive and planned maintenance
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Qualifications
- Postgraduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., facilities management, engineering, etc.)
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in facilities management or related field
- Professional qualifications such as CEM (Certified Facilities Manager) or equivalent
Skills
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and CAFM systems
- Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders including senior management, staff, and external suppliers

Pay
Salary is commensurate with experience.
Schedule
The role is full-time and requires attendance on site five days per week. Hybrid working is not available for this post. Travel to other NHS Lothian sites may be required.
