20861: Full Time - School Secretary

Northland School Division is seeking Substitute Teachers at Gift Lake School for the 2024-2025 school year. The school, serving Kindergarten through Grade 9, is located in the Gift Lake Métis Settlement—one of only eight legislated Métis land bases in Northern Alberta, Canada, with a distinct Métis government protected by legislation. It is situated along Highway 750, about 84 kilometres northeast of High Prairie.

Responsibilities

• Follow the prescribed program of studies for each subject taught.
• Plan and execute daily lessons based on short, medium, and long-range planning.
• Provide feedback to students and parents in a regular, timely manner.
• Champion Cree language and culture revitalization and curriculum infusion.
• Support school-parent-community engagement.
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and commit to collaborative decision-making.
• Promote differentiated instruction to meet diverse learning needs.

Requirements

• Must hold or qualify for Alberta teaching certification and a Teaching Quality Standard certificate.
• Must hold a Bachelor of Education (BEd.) degree.
• Successful years of teaching experience in rural and/or Indigenous communities.
• Leadership skills supporting literacy and language improvement through an Indigenous perspective are an asset.

Should the successful applicant receive a positive evaluation, there may be an opportunity to transition to a continuous contract.
