About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated Hardware Engineering intern/co-op to collaborate with engineers on AMD’s discrete and embedded hardware products. You will build applications for external and internal use, as well as large-scale systems that improve the efficiency of the AMD Hardware organization.

Schedule

  • Spring/Summer Co-op: January 15, 2027 – August 13, 2027 (full-time, 40 hours per week)
  • Summer Internship (Semester Students): May 24, 2027 – August 13, 2027
  • Summer Internship (Quarter Students): June 21, 2027 – September 10, 2027
  • Summer/Fall Co-op (Semester Students): May 24, 2027 – December 10, 2027
  • Summer/Fall Co-op (Quarter Students): June 21, 2027 – December 10, 2027

This role requires the student to work in either a hybrid or onsite work structure at our San Jose, CA or Santa Clara, CA locations.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineers on AMD’s discrete and embedded hardware products
  • Develop applications for external and internal use
  • Work on large-scale systems to improve efficiency within the AMD Hardware organization

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a US-based undergraduate program majoring in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • Knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • C/C++, Verilog, VHDL, Python, Perl, Spice, Ruby, Chrome OS, MATLAB
    • ASIC design and verification
    • Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI)
    • System/board design, circuit board layout, signal integrity, power design
    • Hardware automation, validation, and test
    • UNIX and JTAG tools
    • Pre-silicon and/or post-silicon platforms
    • Computer architecture, CPU & GPU architecture
  • Enthusiasm for hardware engineering and eagerness to learn
