About the Internship Program

Key’s Enterprise Internship is a 10.5-week program that provides meaningful work, feedback, coaching, and engaging events to spark interest in a full-time career at Key. Interns work on projects impacting Key’s business and strategic pillars, network with teammates across the organization, participate in Learning Labs with internal and external speakers, and receive mentorship from experienced professionals.

About Risk Management

Key Risk Management provides leadership on risk management strategies and initiatives for enterprise risk, credit, market and treasury, anti-money laundering, compliance, operational, and model risk, as well as regulatory relations, portfolio management, quantitative analytics, and asset recovery activities.

About the Role

The Risk Management Internship Program is designed to develop KeyBank risk professionals through training, work experience, cross-functional exposure, and robust feedback. Interns are placed in a specific Risk Management department for the duration of the internship. Upon successful completion, interns may be offered a full-time rotational analyst position within Risk Management.

Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor risk and controls
• Opine on the efficacy of the control environment
• Communicate opportunities for efficiency and process improvement
• Perform data analytics and reporting
• Work with various systems
• Conduct quality assurance and control testing
• Perform credit analysis
• Apply regulatory requirements in practical scenarios
• Participate in special projects based on performance and business needs

Placement Areas

• Anti-Money Laundering: Manage AML-related regulatory obligations, ensure compliance with AML rules, and monitor transactions to identify suspicious activity.
• Enterprise Risk: Examine risk holistically, interact with all risk departments, aggregate risk, and develop methodologies for assessing and controlling risk.
• Operational Risk: Examine risks from internal human error, failed processes, or external events.
• Compliance Risk: Examine risks from legal or regulatory sanctions due to non-compliance with laws or regulations.
• Credit Risk: Analyze the risk of borrower failure to meet contractual obligations.
• Market and Treasury Risk: Monitor risks affecting capital, income, cash flows, or portfolio valuations due to market movements.
• Model Risk: Ensure Key uses approved and validated models suited for their intended purpose.

Requirements

• Completed at least three years toward a four-year undergraduate degree with coursework in finance, accounting, actuarial science, economics, and/or data science (preferred)
• Anticipated graduation in May 2028 or December 2027
• Minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.3
• Demonstrated leadership and teamwork from past work experience and/or extracurricular activities
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills
• Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint

Pay

This position offers an hourly rate of $23 per hour and includes a $2,000 Summer Internship Sign-on Bonus.

Full-time, 10.5-week program running from May 26, 2027, to August 6, 2027.
