Overall Purpose

The Office of General Counsel (OGC) department at Duquesne Light Company seeks interns for full-time (40 hours/week) positions for the Summer 2026 Internship program. The OGC leverages the synergies between legal, compliance, internal audit and enterprise risk management, collectively providing corporate services to Duquesne Light Holdings, Inc. and its subsidiaries, including Duquesne Light Company and TEN.

About the Role

Becoming a top-performing utility requires forward thinking, the ability to balance risk and strict compliance with ever-changing federal regulations, and strong governmental relations – which is where the Office of General Counsel (OGC) department comes in. The OGC seeks interns who can contribute to the department's mission and support the company's goals.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in legal research and analysis
  • Support in drafting and reviewing contracts and agreements
  • Participate in regulatory filings and compliance matters
  • Contribute to internal audits and risk assessments
  • Support in corporate governance activities

Requirements

  • Second year law student at an accredited law school
  • Prior business experience preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment

Qualifications

  • Full-time, degree-seeking students enrolled in an accredited college or university
  • In good academic standing
  • Willingness to work the required schedule as defined in the job description
  • Demonstrated leadership ability through studies, employment or extracurricular activities
  • Aptitude for problem solving

Benefits

The internship program provides a valuable experience and a solid start to your career in various disciplines. Internships are full-time (40 hours/week), paid, and run for 12 weeks (May-August). Internships are located in Pittsburgh and follow DLH’s Hybrid Work Model (described below).

Pay

The pay for the internship program is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Schedule

The internship program follows DLH’s Hybrid Work Model, with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.
