for section headings (e.g. About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule)." So they expect those headings if content exists. We have Pay and Schedule content, so we should include them as separate sections. But we also have Qualifications and Skills. That's many sections but maybe okay.
We could combine Qualifications and Skills into one "Qualifications" section that includes both eligibility and traits. But they said prefer a few substantive sections over many thin ones. Having many thin sections may be discouraged. Let's see: we have About (substantive), Responsibilities (substantive list), Qualifications (could include eligibility, work auth, passion, etc), Pay (single line), Schedule (single line). That's 5 sections. Could we merge Pay and Schedule into a "Compensation and Schedule" section? But they didn't list that as example heading; they gave Pay and Schedule as examples. However we could still create a combined section with heading "Compensation and Schedule"? The instruction says use for section headings (e.g. About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule). It doesn't forbid other headings, but suggests using those. Safer to follow examples: use Pay and Schedule as separate headings.
Thus we will have About, Responsibilities, Qualifications, Skills, Pay, Schedule. That's 6 sections. Might be okay.
But we need to ensure we don't repeat content. Let's extract qualifications: availability, compensation, full-time capacity eligibility, work authorization, ideal candidate enrollment, passion for books. That's a lot; we could keep them in Qualifications.
Skills: proactive, attentive to detail; engaged communicator; love for contemporary fiction categories.
Now check for any duplicated lines: we have "Candidates must be available to work in our NYC office from Monday – Thursday for a total of 28 hours per week, from June 7 – August 12, 2027." That's schedule; we also have that in Qualifications if we keep there. Better to move schedule to Schedule section and remove from Qualifications. Similarly compensation to Pay section.
Thus Qualifications will contain: eligibility (full-time capacity 2027/2028, rising seniors etc), work authorization, ideal candidate enrollment, passion for books. Also maybe "Candidates who are available to work in a full-time capacity in 2027 or 2028 are eligible for this internship; open to rising seniors, recent graduates, master’s students, or entry level candidates with up to 1 year of work experience." That's eligibility.
Also "Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States."
Also "Ideal candidates are either currently enrolled in or have recently graduated from an undergraduate or master’s program."
Also "A passion for books is highly valued!"
We could also include "Candidates must be available to work in our NYC office from Monday – Thursday for a total of 28 hours per week, from June 7 – August 12, 2027." but that's schedule.
Thus Qualifications section will have those points.
Now Skills section: proactive, attentive to detail; engaged and thoughtful communicator willing to coordinate cross-departmental work; immense love for contemporary fiction in these categories particularly: book club fiction, women’s fiction, literary fiction, mystery/thriller/crime/suspense.
Now Pay section:
Compensation for this internship is $18 per hour.
Schedule section:Candidates must be available to work in our NYC office from Monday – Thursday for a total of 28 hours per week, from June 7 – August 12, 2027.
Now ensure we didn't include any boilerplate: removed EEO, accommodation request, cover letter requirement, deadline, etc. Check for any leftover boilerplate: "HarperCollins Publishers is committed to providing reasonable accommodation..." removed. "HarperCollins Publishers is an equal opportunity employer." removed. "Note: we will only respond to accommodation requests." removed. "The deadline to apply is October 1, 2026 by 11:59 pm ET." removed. "A resume and cover letter are required; applications without a cover letter will not be considered. Please address your cover letter to “Hiring Team.”" removed. Now output HTML fragment. Let's craft:About the role
