2027 Summer Internship- Avon Editorial (NYC)

The Avon Group, a division of HarperCollins Publishers, comprises imprints such as Harper Voyager and Avon Books, publishing genre‑fiction titles across romance, women’s fiction, sci‑fi, and fantasy. This internship supports the Romance Team at Avon.

Responsibilities

• Learn about the editorial process.
• Read and evaluate proposals and manuscripts under consideration, write reader’s reports, research author track records and comparison titles, and draft rejection letters.
• Research trends in editorial content, marketing approaches, and publishing trends as needed.
• Assist with in‑house author social‑media posts and content.
• Prepare manuscripts for production.
• Support editors through administrative tasks such as mailings, requesting marketing materials, and other in‑office duties.

Qualifications

• Available to work in the NYC office Monday – Thursday, 28 hours per week, from June 7 – August 12 2027.
• Compensation: $18 per hour.
• Open to rising seniors, recent graduates, master’s students, or entry‑level candidates with up to 1 year of work experience.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
• Resume and cover letter required; cover letter must be addressed to “Hiring Team.”
• Ideal candidates are currently enrolled in or have recently graduated from an undergraduate or master’s program.
• Passion for books, eagerness to learn about the publishing business, and interest in romance novels are highly valued.

Pay

$18 per hour.

Schedule

Monday – Thursday, 28 hours per week, June 7 – August 12 2027. Candidates who can work full‑time in 2027 or 2028 are eligible.
