About the role

The Sophomore Career Exploration Internship at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York offers undergraduate sophomores a 10-week, full-time, onsite opportunity to gain hands-on experience in mission-driven work that supports the U.S. economy and the stability of the global financial system. Interns are placed within the Corporate Group and work on project-based assignments while participating in professional development, mentorship, and networking with senior leaders. The program emphasizes collaboration, skill-building, and meaningful contributions to the Bank’s operations.

Program placement areas

  • Corporate Group Support & Enterprise Services (GS&ES): Centralized internal business development partner providing Business Support, Business Technology & Data Management, Enterprise Services, and Risk Management services.
  • Procurement Value Management (PVM): Reduces total cost of ownership of goods and services, manages vendor-related spend strategically, and supports governance and solution delivery for clients.
  • Corporate Real Estate (CRE): Delivers facilities operations, workplace solutions, space design, and capital improvement program management to maintain a safe and effective work environment.
  • Business Finance Partners (BFP): Provides strategic financial and business insights, including budget planning, financial program management, and financial planning and analysis to support Bank priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and submit data analytics reports for assigned business areas.
  • Respond to operational service requests for Event Management, Business Support, and Real Estate teams.
  • Support and enhance existing PowerPoint presentations for circulation to key partners and Bank leadership through redesign, new slides, and formatting.
  • Participate in business area meetings and Group events.
  • Complete assignments designated by business area managers.
  • Create dynamic and user-friendly Tableau dashboards for reporting and exploratory purposes.
  • Analyze data using statistical methods and tools to identify patterns and trends.
  • Collaborate with direct team members and other stakeholders on projects and responsibilities.
  • Analyze Procurement Value Management policies, standards, and documentation to provide insights for updating guidance and resource documents.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated interest in business operations, data analysis, program and project management, risk management, event management, real estate management, engineering/architecture, finance, accounting, ethics and compliance, supplier diversity, or related fields.
  • Strong academic record and passion for public service.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Acrobat.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
