About the role
This 10-week Summer Internship in the Alternatives Business Management team is located at PIMCO’s Newport Beach, CA Headquarters. As an Alternatives Business Management Intern, you will support the smooth operation of PIMCO’s alternatives business across relevant funds and accounts, working closely with portfolio managers to deliver data and analytics for decision-making. You will also contribute to transformative strategic initiatives led by the team.
Eligibility
- Pursuing an undergraduate degree
- Must be able to begin full-time employment between January 2028 – August 2028
- Must be enrolled at a university during the Fall 2027 semester (August 2027 – December 2027)
- Minimum 3.2 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) at an accredited 4-year college or university
- Business proficiency in English
Responsibilities
- Business Management & Administration: Manage critical reporting, forecasting, capacity analysis, and budgeting for the alternatives business
- Business Administration: Oversee the administrative system guiding day-to-day operations for the global alternatives business
- Strategic Initiatives: Develop and manage initiatives to scale the alternatives business, achieve goals, and mitigate risk
- Solutions Management: Create innovative, standardized, scalable, and secure solutions
- Project Management: Lead complex projects with large cross-functional teams
- Individual Contributor: Act as an individual contributor on initiatives spearheaded by the team
- Governance and Administration: Oversee fund policies, procedures, processes, and transaction management in the US and Europe
- Transaction Management / Deal Execution: Manage and oversee transactions throughout the deal lifecycle to maximize efficiencies and minimize delays
Qualifications
- Enjoy working collaboratively across the organization to resolve issues
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
- Well-refined communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas and strategies clearly, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work effectively on multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience with Excel, SQL, Business Objects, Bloomberg, iLEVEL, PowerBI, or DealCloud is a plus
- Preferred (but not required): Buy or sell-side trade room, private equity and/or real estate, legal and/or compliance, or product/project management experience
- Demonstrated curiosity and experience using emerging technologies and AI tools to solve problems and drive outcomes
Internship Experience
- 10-week program from early June to mid-August (full duration required)
- Week 1: PIMCO Fundamentals Training to build skills, knowledge, and relationships
- Participation in PIMCO’s Global Month of Volunteering
- Cross-divisional education, networking, and social events
- Guidance and mentorship from supervisors, peer mentors, senior leaders, and team members
- Hands-on experience with AI-powered tools from day one, including training and resources
- Feedback at mid- and end-of-summer as part of a formal review process

Hourly rate: $43.26
