2027 Summer Food Production Intern

About the role

Butterball, LLC – a leading turkey brand in the United States – is offering a 10‑12‑week Poultry Production Internship at its Raeford food manufacturing plant in Raeford, North Carolina. Interns will dive into daily plant operations, tackle industry challenges, and contribute to process improvements while gaining professional development and leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Master the ins and outs of food production.
• Collaborate with the team to optimize processes.
• Contribute to quality assurance and food safety initiatives.
• Develop leadership skills by guiding and mentoring first‑line employees.

Requirements

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Agri‑Business, Animal Science, Food Science, Meat Science, Ag Leadership, or a related field with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2029.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to commute to and from work.
• Willingness to relocate to Raeford, North Carolina if not already residing in the area.
• Demonstrated participation in extracurricular activities and on‑campus involvement.
• Previous work experience of any kind is preferred.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate equipment, computer, telephone, and keyboard.
• Occasionally required to climb and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions

• Manufacturing plant environment with varying conditions such as cold, wet, warm areas, chemicals, and other site conditions.
• Use of personal protective equipment is required while in the manufacturing environment.
• Noise level may exceed 85 dBA, requiring hearing protection.
• Occasional travel may be required.
