About the Role

Stifel Capital Structure Advisory Group (formerly Miller Buckfire) is a restructuring boutique with an outstanding track record of providing objective and thoughtful advice in financial restructurings, recapitalizations, and other high-stakes situations. Based in New York, the firm’s professionals have a 20+ year history of advising companies, creditors, shareholders, sponsors, and other key stakeholders. The team works seamlessly with Stifel industry bankers to offer clients access to the full spectrum of strategic alternatives, often completing transactions out-of-court and undisclosed.

As a group, Stifel Capital Structure Advisory's professionals have represented more than 190 companies, restructured approximately $420 billion of debt, advised on mergers and acquisitions valued at over $21 billion, and raised over $61 billion in financing.

The team has extensive experience assisting clients with:

  • Renegotiating credit facilities
  • Obtaining covenant waivers and amendments
  • Consummating exchange offers, tender offers, and consent solicitations
  • Raising capital (bank loans, second lien, DIP financings, high yield, mezzanine loans, private equity, and strategic investments)
  • Selling non-core assets or entire companies
  • Effectuating cross-border and international restructurings
  • Providing expert valuation and related testimony
  • Pre-packaged / pre-arranged chapter 11 cases
  • Traditional restructurings under chapter 11

Past and current clients include: GNC, Carbon Health, Del Monte creditors, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico creditors, Yellow Corp. creditors, Lazydays, Checkers Restaurants, MOD Super Fast Pizza, CorEnergy Infrastructure Trust, Invacare, Rockport, Structurlam, Nice-Pak Products, Workhorse, Mallinckrodt creditors, Sequential Brands Group, TNT Crane & Rigging, and Faraday Future.

Responsibilities

Analysts will participate in the CY'27 Training Program in August for three weeks in NYC. Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting deal teams in creating, maintaining, and utilizing complex financial models
  • Performing financial and valuation analysis such as discounted cash flow analysis and multiple valuation analysis
  • Conducting company and industry research and gaining an in-depth understanding of sector trends
  • Preparing client presentation materials in coordination with the internal deal team and clients
  • Developing a deep understanding of investment banking products and services
  • Drafting client presentation materials and participating in client calls or meetings

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and thrive in a fast-paced and challenging environment
  • Excellent quantitative, interpretive, and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated leadership and disciplined work ethic
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Significant exposure to finance and accounting
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, collaborative work environment with strong interpersonal skills
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Experience with financial modeling and analysis preferred
  • Well-rounded set of interests and involvement in extracurricular activities beyond academics, demonstrating leadership abilities

Qualifications

  • Pursuing an MBA degree with an anticipated graduation date between December 2026 – May 2027
  • Minimum GPA of 3.5 or above
  • Resume must include expected graduation month/year and GPA

  • Authorization to work in the U.S.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint

Pay

Salary: USD $175,000.00/Yr. Actual salaries may vary based on several factors, including but not limited to each candidate’s qualifications, skills, and overall competencies for the position.
