About the role
Oceans Program at Earthjustice works on protecting oceans and wildlife from threats like overfishing, oil and gas drilling, and habitat degradation. The team comprises 10 full-time attorneys, a litigation paralegal, and a litigation assistant. They litigate cases in federal court and advocate for ocean resources both domestically and internationally.
Responsibilities
- Work on a mix of international and domestic ocean matters under the guidance of experienced attorneys.
- Draft pleadings and briefs, conduct legal research, develop litigation strategies, gather evidence, and attend client meetings and court proceedings.
- Participate in various programmatic offerings including seminars, interactions with other environmental groups, and job interview workshops.
Compensation
The total stipend for the summer law clerkship is $1,382.00 per week, minus any external funding received, and subject to taxes. The clerkship is 10 weeks long at full-time hours (37.5 hours/week).
How to Apply
- Candidates must be enrolled in a U.S. law school through fall 2027 and be available for a 10-week commitment during summer 2027.
