About the role

The Northern Rockies office of Earthjustice is engaged in litigation and advocacy efforts to protect and preserve iconic wildlife species and wild lands in the Northern Rockies region. This includes defending ecosystems like those surrounding Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks, as well as working against harmful practices like coal mining and advocating for renewable energy solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Draft pleadings and briefs
  • Conduct legal research
  • Develop litigation strategies and theories
  • Gather evidence and prepare for court proceedings
  • Attend client meetings and court hearings
  • Participate in various programmatic offerings, such as seminars and workshops

Compensation

The total stipend amount for the summer law clerkship will vary based on external funding, but will be at least $1,382.00 per week, minus taxes and any other funding received. The clerkship is 10 weeks long and is designed to be full-time (37.5 hours/week).

  • Candidates must be enrolled in a U.S. law school through fall 2027 and be available for a 10-week commitment during summer 2027.
  • Summer law clerks must work from the U.S. during their clerkship.
