Position Summary
As an Associate on GIP’s investment team, you will work alongside deal team members to help evaluate and execute infrastructure investment opportunities across the energy, transportation, digital, and/or water and waste sectors. You will be responsible for conducting market research, financial modeling and analysis, and overall project management. Associates will have continued involvement with GIP’s infrastructure investments following acquisitions, including monitoring performance of key value drivers, conducting valuations regularly, assisting with the execution of on-going financing transactions, and tracking general investment performance.
More Specifically, You Will Collaborate With And Help Support Deal Team Members On Aspects Of New Platform Investments, Add-on Investments, Divestitures And Related Financings, Including But Not Limited To The Following
- Taking a role in processing new investment opportunities, ranging from market assessment, to competitive positioning, to initial underwriting and deal structuring;
- Working on diligence efforts on pursued deals, including business diligence, risk underwriting, and managing external advisors;
- Building robust flexible financial models to support deal underwriting and deal structuring efforts;
- Performing ad-hoc analysis to support transaction negotiations;
- And Providing hands-on support to portfolio companies.
Qualifications
- Team-oriented, highly motivated, entrepreneurial, demonstrates intellectual curiosity, strives for excellence, and displays high integrity, professional maturity, and good judgment.
- Successful candidates will have: 2 – 3 years of investment banking or private equity investing experience or 3 – 5 years of experience at industry companies or consultants in target GIP sectors (energy, transportation, digital, and/or water and waste);
- Bachelor’s degree with strong GPA from a leading university;
- Passion for investing, particularly in infrastructure;
- Previous experience and interest in the power, renewables, utilities and energy sector is a plus;
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail;
- Superior analytical, financial modeling, and accounting skills;
- Exceptional communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to learn new concepts quickly;
- High level of professionalism, collaboration, and self-awareness.
Pay and Benefits
All Associates participate in several weeks of training upon joining the company including internal GIP, technical, and professional skill-building sessions. Continuous education and career development opportunities are available on an ongoing basis.
For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$130,000.00 - USD$150,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
