2027 Engineer Development Rotation Program - Mechanical Engineer I New College Grad - BS or MS (Gloucester, MA)

About the role

As a Mechanical Engineer in the Fusion rotational training program, you’ll leverage your strong foundation in physics, mathematics, and materials science to process and resolve mechanical problems, design and implement custom mechanical tooling and associated processes, and enable the handling, assembly, and disassembly of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies throughout the product life cycle.

The Fusion program is a rotational training initiative within the Applied Materials Semiconductor Equipment business unit located in Gloucester, MA. Designed to attract, assimilate, grow, and retain talented engineers, the program spans the first two years of employment and includes a series of rotational assignments. These rotations typically consist of three or four unique engineering departmental assignments and one manufacturing department assignment, helping you and your managers determine where you will flourish in your full-time position at Applied Materials.

Program starts in Summer 2027, on-site at our Gloucester, MA campus.

Responsibilities

• In support of design projects, coordinate the procurement and assembly of mechanical components/equipment and identify sources of critical parts and subsystems to resolve technical issues.
• Design or modify mechanical engineering layouts, schematics, and/or detailed drawings/specifications.
• Perform and document engineering test reports.
• Perform engineering analysis.
• Effectively use engineering processes in the resolution of mechanical problems.
• Design, develop, and implement custom mechanical tooling, fixturing, and associated processes to enable the handling, assembly, and/or disassembly of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies throughout the product life cycle.
• Oversee manufacturing and installation processes, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations.

Requirements

• Graduating with a Bachelor’s degree (or Master's) in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Must be in good academic standing with a preferred GPA above 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
• Able to solve complex problems and take a new perspective on existing solutions.
• Ability to exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
• Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus.
• Flexible and adaptable mindset who thrives in a results-driven culture.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous internship or related experience in field.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in associations.

Pay

Salary: $70,000.00 - $95,500.00. The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
