About the Program/Event

Tech for Social Good at JPMorganChase is focused on driving impact in our communities through the skills of our tech workforce. By attending Code for Good, you will collaborate with our expert technologists to creatively address real-world technology challenges faced by nonprofit organizations, fostering innovation and impact. This experience offers you the chance to network with fellow aspiring software engineers across the country and engage with our recruiting teams, providing insight into the software engineering role at JPMorganChase.

Over two days (Friday – Saturday), you and your team will develop a tech solution for a leading nonprofit, with travel expenses covered under certain conditions. Your participation in the Code for Good hackathon may also lead to an opportunity for you to learn more about and be considered for a 2027 Software Engineer Program Summer Internship.

Responsibilities

• Develop skills through ongoing training, mentorship, and access to senior leaders.
• Design, develop, test, and troubleshoot software solutions.
• Write secure, high-quality code in at least one programming language, following established standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with engineers, managers, and stakeholders across teams to understand problems, share ideas and feedback, and deliver reliable solutions.
• Communicate clearly in writing and verbally by articulating problems, documenting solutions, and effectively prompting approved AI-assisted development tools to produce high-quality outputs.
• Leverage approved AI development tools (for example, code generation, refactoring, test creation, and documentation) to improve code quality and productivity, while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding practices.
• Apply automation and modern tooling across the software development life cycle, including AI-enabled capabilities, to improve delivery efficiency and reliability.

Qualifications

• Be pursuing a Bachelor's degree or a 5th-year Master's degree with an expected graduation between December 2027 and June 2028.
• Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree with expected graduation by June 2028.
• Have streams and specializations in Computer Science, Information Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, or related fields.
• Basic knowledge of industry-wide technology trends and best practices.
• Demonstrate the ability to write secure, high-quality code in at least one programming language, following established standards and best practices.
• Have experience collaborating with engineers, managers, and stakeholders across teams to understand problems, share ideas and feedback, and deliver reliable solutions.
• Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate technical concepts, document work, and collaborate effectively across teams and tools.
• Apply automation and modern tooling to reduce manual effort and improve consistency across the software development life cycle.
• Use approved AI development tools (for example, code drafting, refactoring, testing, and documentation) with appropriate review and validation.
• Critically evaluate AI-generated outputs and remain accountable for final solution quality and correctness.
• Follow responsible AI practices in engineering workflows, including secure handling of inputs and outputs and adherence to resiliency and security expectations.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this program, you must be authorized to work in the U.S. We do not offer any type of employment-based immigration sponsorship for this program. Likewise, JPMorgan Chase will not provide any assistance or sign any documentation in support of any other form of immigration sponsorship or benefit including optional practical training (OPT) or curricular practical training (CPT).

Application Process

3. On the application form, select the JPMorganChase locations you are most interested in learning about.
4. Selected applicants will be invited to attend one of the hackathons with technologists and recruiters best matched to your work location preference.
5. If advanced, complete a coding challenge powered by HackerRank.
6. Selected applicants will be notified via email with final event details.

• Brooklyn, NY: October 16th- October 17th (Welcoming participants interested in Jersey City, NJ, New York, NY, Palo Alto, CA, Chicago, IL, or Wilmington, DE) - Application Deadline: September 18th, 2026
• Columbus, OH: November 6th- November 7th (Welcoming participants interested in Columbus, OH, Plano, TX, Houston, TX, or Tampa, FL) - Application Deadline: October 9th, 2026

Coders will need to bring their own laptops to the event.
