2027 BOLT Intern -ESG

About the Role

The BOLT (Building Opportunities & Learning Together) Intern Program is Kinder Morgan’s elite summer internship program. Interns gain hands‑on experience in the energy industry while enhancing professional and interpersonal skills through meaningful projects that support the company’s vision of delivering energy to improve lives and create a better world. Kinder Morgan is one of the largest energy‑infrastructure companies in North America, operating approximately 78,000 miles of pipelines and 136 terminals that transport natural gas, gasoline, crude oil, carbon dioxide and more, and store renewable fuels, petroleum products, chemicals, vegetable oils, and other commodities.

Responsibilities

• Collect ESG‑related data from multiple departments.
• Evaluate the collected data using Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) methods to determine accuracy and completeness.
• Use IT systems to disclose and describe the data in the annual sustainability report and assist with its preparation for publication.
• Develop and implement technology‑driven efficiencies to improve data collection and analysis.
• Benchmark company sustainability efforts against peers.
• Conduct gap analyses for new or changing regulatory requirements or voluntary sustainability standards.
• Assist with engagements from ESG ratings companies.
• Present a summary of the summer experience to department management and senior business leaders at the end of the internship.

Requirements

• Working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in data science, sustainability, engineering, or environmental sciences.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Demonstrated experience leading teams (in school, work, or personal life) with detailed examples provided during the interview.
• Self‑motivated, driven, and possessing strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to function effectively both in a team environment and independently.
• Attention to detail and strong computer skills.
• Driven to discover and determined to deliver results.
• Willingness to travel within the United States.
• Successful completion of a drug screen and background check after an offer is extended.
