About the role

The Biodiversity Defense Program at Earthjustice fights to reshape our relationship with lands, water, and wildlife by addressing major drivers of nature's decline, including habitat destruction and wildlife exploitation. Our work applies Earthjustice's strategic, collaborative, and impactful approach to environmental protection to new issue areas and regions.

Responsibilities

  • Draft pleadings and briefs
  • Do legal research
  • Develop strategy and legal theories
  • Gather evidence
  • Attend client meetings and court proceedings

Earthjustice's summer law clerk program offers additional opportunities such as seminars, interactions with other environmental groups, and a job interview workshop.

Compensation

The total stipend for the summer law clerkship is $1,382.00 per week, minus any external funding received, and includes a one-time stipend at the start of the clerkship. The program is designed to last 10 weeks at full-time hours (37.5 hours/week).

How to Apply

  • Candidates must be enrolled in a U.S. law school through fall 2027 and be available for a 10-week summer 2027 commitment.
  • Summer law clerks must work from the U.S. during their clerkship.
