2027 Actuarial Internship - Remote

About the role

Symetra offers several internship opportunities with our different Actuarial areas. This is a full-time, paid internship taking place in summer 2027. This internship is 100% remote with the option to work from a Symetra office if local. The duration is 3 months, during which you will have the opportunity to work with experienced actuaries who focus on various functions including pricing, reserving, and reporting. You will get hands-on experience and work-ready skills while using various actuarial software applications. Through diverse and critical projects, you will gain valuable experience in the exciting and high-growth field of actuarial science! At Symetra, we seek to engage and empower every individual. Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in progress or completed with a strong quantitative background including college level mathematics
• Beginner to intermediate level proficiency with Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
• Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills
• Strong technical skills and SQL, R, and/or Python modeling experience preferred
• Ability to work collaboratively with others

Remote Network Minimum Requirements

• Minimum Internet Speed: 100 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload, in alignment with the FCC's definition of "broadband."
• Internet Type: Fiber, Cable (e.g., Comcast, Spectrum), or DSL.
• Not Permissible: Satellite (e.g., Starlink), cellular broadband (hotspot or otherwise), any other wireless technology, or wired dial-up.
• When applying to jobs at Symetra you'll be asked to test your internet speed and confirm that your internet connection meets or exceeds Symetra's standard as outlined above.
