About the role
The summer program aims to provide a supportive and engaging learning environment for students at risk of dropping out of school. It seeks to enhance academic performance and address social-emotional needs through Individualized Education Program (IEP) focused activities.
Responsibilities
- School year job requirements including planning and coordination time during out-of-school hours.
- Supervise assistant director if needed.
- Be available for on-site support for the summer session at NW/FC.
- Attend professional development on the week of June 26, 2023.
- Respond to program crisis situations and serve as the primary contact for staff, students, and families.
- Manage daily attendance and notify supervisors of any attendance concerns.
- Compile program data, including student academic progress, pre/post-testing assessments, and attendance records.
- Ensure program clean-up is completed at the end of the program.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred) in a related field to education.
- Massachusetts DESE license in Mild to Moderate Special Needs grades 5-12.
- Experience with the therapeutic model of Next Wave/Full Circle.
- Experience with middle and/or high school socio/emotional curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices.
- Experience with the IEP process.
- A strong ability to build community, provide support to, and motivate staff.
- Able to maintain a safe and healthy environment for students.
- Strong organizational and effective communication skills.
- Experience working with a team to develop curriculum and extracurricular activities.
- Knowledge of or connection with support programs in the community.
- An interest in promoting instructional leadership among staff.
- Sensitivity to and/or experience in working with children and adults from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.

- Stipend: $2,610.
- Mandatory Orientation and Professional Development Days: Week of June 24, 2024.
