2026 MLB Scout & Coaching Development Program
About the Program
The Scout Development Program and Coaching Development Program are offered by Major League Baseball in collaboration with the Buck O’Neil Professional Scouts and Coaches Association. The Scout Development Program focuses on emerging scouting talent, while the Coaching Development Program aims to enhance the coaching abilities of aspiring coaches.
Scout Development Program
- Duration: October 11-20, during the Arizona Fall League (dates subject to change)
- Target Audience: Individuals pursuing a career in Scouting or a similar baseball career path where Scouting skills are beneficial
- Focus: Identifying candidates interested in opportunities at a Club or League office, with a focus on scout development training and experiences within their organization
- Activities: Virtual development training sessions prior to the in-person program, followed by on-field coaching experience with a team during the Arizona Fall Leagues
Coaching Development Program
- Duration: October 11-26
- Target Audience: Twelve selected coaching candidates aspiring to advance their coaching abilities
- Activities: On-field coaching experience with a team during the Arizona Fall Leagues, additional experience with other Arizona Fall programming (Bridge & Instructional Leagues)
- Requirements: Former players and current coaches at the collegiate level are encouraged to apply
Eligibility
- Applicants must be pursuing a career in Scouting or a similar baseball career path
- Former players and current coaches at the collegiate level are encouraged to apply
- Players from MLB Partner Leagues (American Association, Atlantic League, Frontier League, and Pioneer League) are also eligible
Benefits
- Travel, lodging, and a stipend are provided by MLB to participants selected for the in-person experience
