Responsibilities
- Respond to emergency calls to provide fire suppression, rescue, and medical services.
- Operate fire apparatus and vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Participate in training exercises and drills to maintain proficiency and readiness.
- Assist with community outreach programs and public education initiatives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age at time of hire.
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- A valid driver's license and satisfactory seven (7) year driving history including NO DUI’S or BUI’S (Boating Under the Influence) within five (5) years, or excessive violations.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- No felony convictions or sufficient misdemeanor convictions to evidence a pattern.
- Ability to meet physical and mental demands of the position.
- Certified as a Georgia Firefighter/AEMT within one year of hire.
- To attain status as a relief driver within two (4) years of hire.
Qualifications
- Candidates with AEMT or GA Firefighter certification may not need to take the Accuplacer Exam.
- Lateral Program consideration for candidates with a minimum of a State of Georgia Firefighter I certificate and an Advanced EMT License, or a State of Georgia Firefighter I certification and a Paramedic License.
Benefits
New Hire with AEMT or GA Firefighter Certification is $52,252.64. Market Rate: Lateral Hires with GA Firefighter Certification, GA AEMT / Paramedic licensure, and departmental experience.
